SERVICE: BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION THERAPY
Blood Flow Restriction Therapy
Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR) allows you to train at lower loads while achieving the same results you would get training at higher loads, thereby reducing overall stress placed on the limb.
During BFR training, a Physical Therapist will use an automated cuff that is similar to a blood pressure cuff to apply pressure to the limb. The automated cuff will measure will determine the patient’s blood pressure and apply the exact amount of arterial occlusion based on the patient’s measurements.
BFR is an expanding rehabilitation modality that uses a tourniquet to reduce arterial flow and occlude venous outflow in the setting of resistance training or exercise.
