SERVICE: MANUAL THERAPY

Manual Therapy

At Athletic Movements we utilize various manual therapy techniques such as instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), cupping, joint mobilization, kinesiology taping. These manual therapy techniques help reduce pain, improve tissue extensibility, improve circulation, facilitate muscle activation, increase joint mobility. Following manual therapy your plan of care will incorporate exercise to facilitate proper spinal alignment, biomechanics, muscle activation to the area worked on.

Golf Rehab

Does pain limit your ability to perform an optimal swing that your coach is teaching you? Does poor flexibility limit your ability to achieve an optimal golf swing? Do you say to yourself; If only I could move better would I be able to perform the movements that my golf coach is teaching me?

The golf swing is a highly complex athletic movement that requires flexibility of the shoulders, spine, hips, and ankles. As any golfer knows, a minor fault in swing mechanics can have major implications. At Athletic Movements, we break down the biomechanics of the golf swing using slow-motion video technology and identify even the most minor deficits that can create poor body mechanics and poor fundamentals in the golf swing.

He has over a decade of golfing experience and is TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Level 1 and M2 certified. He uses video technology to break down the biomechanics of his patient’s golf swing and identify swing mechanics faults that can create injuries. Specific treatment protocols are used to help prevent injury prone swing mechanics, as well as treating chronic injuries developed from the golf swing.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment strategy utilized by a physical therapist with a post-graduate certification using thin monofilament needles to treat dysfunctional tissue.

Dry needling involves inserting a thin needle through the skin and into underlying muscle and connective tissues. This technique creates a release, or deactivation, of underlying myofascial trigger points which are known to cause pain and tenderness.

At Athletic Movements dry needling is included in every individualized treatment plan with no additional cost. If muscle pain is limiting your ability to achieve optimal performance, consult with Dr. Zerah about implementing dry needling into your treatment plan.

Injury Prevention

Injury prevention is one of the most underutilized aspects of healthcare. At Athletic Movements, we perform a selective functional movement assessment to identify faulty biomechanics with activities of daily living and sports. After identifying faulty mechanics and implementing corrective exercises, both acute and chronic injuries can be prevented before they occur. Dr. Zerah also incorporates video technology as needed to slow movement patterns down to identify in fine detail bio mechanical faults.

Post-Operative Care

Physical Therapy plays a critical role following an orthopedic surgical procedure. The importance of a personalized plan of care that fits the patients needs has never been more crucial following a surgical procedure. The last thing you want as a patient is to be worse off than prior to the surgery. Too many patients say they “never made it back to 100%” following their surgery. Athletic Movements gives you anything but the cookie cutter approach. Dr. Zerah will develop a highly specialized post-operative care plan and maintain continuous communication with the surgeon to provide updates on the patient’s progress.

Sports Rehabilitation

He has over a decade of experience working with athletes from youth to professional level. Dr. Zerah implements selective functional movement assessment into his diagnostic procedures to identify dysfunction in the body’s biomechanics in sport-specific movements. Sport-specific exercises are incorporated to improve function and performance for athletes.

Biomechanics Approach

Often, pain can occur without a mechanism of injury. This pain is due to poor biomechanics of the body. At Athletic Movements, every evaluation will include a Selective Functional Movement Assessment. Whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or just looking to improve your activity levels, Selective Functional Movement Assessment can identify biomechanic deficits in the body’s musculoskeletal system. At Athletic Movements we take it one step further, and identify sport-specific movements and common faults that make the athlete susceptible to injury.
